A brief history of ANDH SARVODAY MANDAL

ANDH SARVODAY MANDAL was established on 24th AUGUST 1951 by five blind best friends. At such a time they started a school for the blind girls. In the begining it was run in dat-time. Due to poor financial position lodging boarding was not easy to provide to blind girl students. Reaching to this stage , the institution had passed most probably one decade and it had gained a good reputation. So that in various cities donors came forward and first of all in 1960. The MANDAL started V. D. PAREKH ANDH MAHILA VIKASH GRIH at RAJKOT . MANDAL also started a school for the blind boys at SURENDRANAGAR in 1961.There after MANDAL started a BRAILLE LIBRARY at PORBANDAR in 1963. Then after the MANDAL started ANDHJAN VIVIDHLAXI TALIM KENDRA for the Adult blind students in 1969 at JAMNAGAR.

During these two decade period MANDAL worked for the Education, and various trainings of the blind people. So that a blind can work with normal sighted society. Looking to this aspect so many blind people have got government jobs as teachers in primary and High schools, professors in colleges, physiotherapists in hospitals, factorymen in various factories etc. Blind people have also got married and have their own married life , children, home and a happy life only because of ANDH SARVODAY MANDAL 's dedicated and devoted attempts.

The institutions described above are working seperately from ANDH SARVODAY MANDAL which had been established by ANDH SARVODAY MANDAL in the past. All of them have own seperate constitutions. Now, the MANDAL hasn't its own building. So that it can perform its social duties very well to blind society.
